It is very easy to read from the top, and if you really want to verify that the meniscus is at the correct level, you can read the cup from the side as well. The markings are large and the graduations are easily identified from either the top or the side. It is also very easy to clean. Note, though, that the text is printed to be read from above, so when you view the markings from the side, the text will be backwards, but still readable.
I also have a similar Oxo, polycarbonate measuring cup that has markings that are readable from the top, but I find the Oxo more difficult to read and much more difficult to clean.
The Pyrex is a keeper.
