(More customer reviews)I purchased this scale as a replacement for my previous glass-topped Salter scale, but am returning it. The photos suggest a solid product made of aluminum, but in reality it made of flimsy plastic with the barest veneer of aluminum on top. The side buttons are also very fiddly and hard to use. The only redeeming features on this scale are the legible display and the fact it uses standard AAA batteries instead of hard to find (and expensive) button cells.

Slim enough to slip into a drawer, yet sleek enough to leave out on the counter, this electronic kitchen scale by Salter makes it easy to weigh ingredients--no need to search around for the right-size measuring cup. Use it to weigh food up to 11 pounds or 5 kg in 0.1-ounce or 1-gram increments. Ingredients can be weighed directly on the scale, which offers a smooth top surface--with no buttons or grooves--or in a bowl (not included). Best of all, the scale's Add & Weigh function allows for weighing multiple ingredients in the same bowl--the scale quickly reverts to zero for each additional item and there's less dirty dishes to clean. Other highlights include an easy-to-read blue backlit LCD with 4/5-inch digits, the ability to switch between metric and imperial, auto or manual shutoff, and a brushed black aluminum finish that will nicely accommodate any kitchen decor. To operate, the unit requires two AAA batteries, which come included. The electronic kitchen scale measures approximately 8 by 8-2/5 by 1-4/5 inches and carries a 10-year limited warranty.
